Abstract

Linum the largest genus of Linaclae with about 200 species Displays great diversity in karyotopic morphological and Biochemical characteristics. The genus Linum is primarily known Far its species Linum usitatissimum as given by Linnaeus in 1857, Is under cultivation since prehistoric times in the world for its ail And fiber. It has been cultivated in the Mediterranean coastal lands, Asia miner, Egypt, Algeria, Turkey, Spain, Italy and Greece for fiber. In South-west Asia, Turkistan and Afghanistan, it is mainly grown for oil. In Asia miner for oil, meant both for edible as well as industrial uses.

Analysis of variance revealed highly significant differences for all the traits for parents, F1 s, F2s, the parents F1s and parents vs F2s were the significant for all the traits.

Variance component analysis showed significant values of additive component (D) in both the generation for all the traits except plant height and tillers per plant in both the F2 generations.

The average degree of dominance showed the presence of over dominance for all the traits in both the generations. Linseed is basically an industrial oil crop and each and every.
